Peaceful Shakedown
Rigatoni with romans homemade arribiata tomato sauce is what’s up for dinner with Caesar salad and homemade dressing made from a recipe he memorized when dining in the petroleum club in Alberta; delicious and the dressing! It should be bottled and served to the world. Roman is an avid cook and is excited to see what the little miracle oven can do ; it can grill, steam, roast, bake, microwave and probably put someone on the moon. He will start with the challenge of some sourdough bread before moving onto the roast beef and Yorkshire pudding.
The Salish sea was uncharacteristically calm today and were anchored safely in east bay of gambier island in 2.5 hours from home port. Winds have died down and the bay is as calm as a lake. Both Patti and Roman are like kids entering the classroom after a long summer, eager to learn about boating and soaking up everything they see without hesitation. Conversation flowed freely after a game of cribbage. They seem relaxed, genuinely excited and prepared and have the right attitude for our adventure camping on the water. Roman jumped right in to drop the hook without much instruction which was great as well be anchoring most nights.
Winds are light so plans are for a leisurely morning with coffee and to return back to the dock late morning. So far so good and all systems go.
