Day 11 - The troubles

Well this is a day I would rather forget.  Rain and wind all day, ran out of fuel in the main tanks and the nation refused to open the fuel dock at Hartley bay means we have to make the run to Rupert on the reserve and the fuel in the genset tank.

On top of it, both toilets clogged today and I couldn’t get the holding tank to empty and there are electrical gremlins everywhere, both heaters aren’t working so we’re sleeping with extra blankets tonight.

Now that we’re anchored the genny  isn’t working and keeps shutting off and tripping and it’s brand new.  I’ve tried everything, fuel bleeding, sea strainer, air filter, adjusting the idle.  Nothing works - without the Genny we can’t anchor out and will have to stay in marina’s so no grizzly bear reserve.  We are still going to make Rupert tommorrow and see if we can find a mechanic who can work on it.  God knows what’s wrong.

Let’s hope tomorrow is a better day and the engines start without the genny to charge the batteries and we can make it to Rupert.  Not sure what else can go wrong.

Couldn’t see anything coming down Verney passage which has amazing glaciers and scenery so hopefully it’s clear when we go back as we will likely take that route.  We are anchored in Lowe Bay in front of spectacular Verney falls with the flow from the river holding us in place and we have 2 boats for company, one is a crazy 150 footer with a helicopter on the back deck….yeah a helicopter.  Crazy.

Running time 6 hours, fuel left, 340L, range 8 hours. Travel time to Rupert 6 hours.
